SMS Compliance: Show Proof of Text Subscriber Opt-Ins
Staying on carriers’ good sides and complying with new 10DLC regulations means proving opt-ins.
Here are three ways to add opt-in language to your website, so you can show carriers that your contacts want to be texted.
1. Advertise "Call or Text Us"
Add “Text or call us” wherever you have your phone number displayed on your website.
You probably already say “Call us at [this number]” on your website. We recommend you add “Text or call us…” since it counts as opt-in language that proves your contacts are choosing to text message you.
Plus it’s just a general SMS best practice to let people know they have the option to text you, so more new contacts reach out.
2. Add a Checkbox on Forms
Include a section asking contacts for their numbers on contact forms.
Have a pre-existing contact form or newsletter signup? These same forms can have a checkbox asking contacts to confirm they’re okay with receiving text messages. This helps you grow a healthy SMS subscriber list, which carriers also value.
3. Use SMS Chat
SMS Chat is widget that has opt-in language included in it.
It gives people the power to text you directly from your website, and anyone who messages you through the widget is a confirmed opt-in. SMS Chat is also highly visible on your website, which is great for proving your text messaging is compliant.
The more transparent your SMS opt-in options are, the better.
