SMS in 2024: 3 Trends to Jump On
We just released our 2024 State of Business Texting Report, where we look at what businesses are doing today and what opportunities that creates for you.
Here are three trends you’ll want to jump on.
1. Replace Phone Calls
Here are three trends you’ll want to jump on.
Some conversations need to happen by phone or in person, but there are tons of missed calls, customer updates, and employee check-ins that would be more efficient and more effective as texts. Lean into this.
Organizations that already do report that:
They “get twice as much done”
They aren’t repeating tasks as often (repeatedly calling to get an answer)
Customers and employees aren’t missing important updates
Consumers also increasingly expect texts instead of calls, so look for opportunities to replace phone calls. Quick updates and anytime you need to reach out to a whole list of customers are great starting points.
2. Earn More Reviews
Texting for online reviews is the #1 opportunity in 2024.
21% of organizations report that they’re already texting for online reviews and feedback. An additional 35% wish they were. Earning online reviews is crucial for ranking high in Google search results and bringing in new customers, and texting to ask for reviews is something that most businesses already see value in.
We’re in a sweet spot with reviews, where there’s traction (people are familiar with it) but it’s not overly saturated. That creates a huge opportunity for you to earn more reviews by SMS.
When you complete services for a customer or deliver a product, be sure to ask them to leave you a review on Google (or your preferred review platform).
3. Stand Out in Sales
Texting may be your best sales asset this year.
The average person gets roughly 156 emails a day, but gets fewer than 20 texts. 70% of people also say that texting is the fastest way to reach them, and 62% of people respond to texts within a few minutes. If you’re in sales and trying to get a prospect’s attention, this is critical info!
Never text for cold outreach, but once a prospect has reached out or you’ve made contact through another channel, use SMS to schedule services or meetings, and to get updates. You’ll be able to shorten your sales cycle significantly while increasing conversions. That’s what everyone wants.
