5 Text Message Templates for Customer Service
One support rep can only handle one phone call at a time—but with text messaging that same rep can handle multiple conversations at once. Here are some customer service-focused SMS templates to show why texting is more efficient.
Template 1: “Hi [Name]. Here is your order confirmation number. [image]”
Template 2: “Hi [Name], your order number has been generated: [link] That link will help you track it.”

Template 5: “Hi [Name], you can use this link to schedule a formal training session: [link] Our team is always here to help.”
Since most customer service conversations start with the customer reaching out to you first, you need a way to let them know they have the option to text you for help. Our SMS Chat feature is an easy way you can directly advertise that customers can text you. It’s a widget customers can use to message you directly from your website with any questions they have.

5 SMS Templates for Payments
The number one reason people haven't paid you is because they've forgotten. SMS payment reminders help keep your revenue flowing.
Template 1: “Your credit card ending in XXX was declined on your last payment. Would you like to schedule a phone call to share new payment info, or try a different method online?”
Template 2: “Hi Name, your payment due dates are the last Friday of every month. Would you like to set up automatic payments?”
Template 3: “Hey [Name], your next payment is due on [date]. [link] You can make it in person or online with the link shared.”
Template 4: “This is a friendly reminder that your next upcoming payment is [due date]. Clicking [link] will take you to our online payment portal.”
Template 5: “Thanks for choosing [business name]! Text [confirmation code] to pay [price] for [service].”
That last template is an example of the sample payment request that Text Request’s Payment feature will send. With Payments, customers reply to your SMS payment requests with a confirmation code to pay. First-timers are then prompted to put their debit or credit card on file, so the payments process is even smoother the next time.
You can also track all your payment requests inside Text Requests to see when you need to nudge customers to pay or update their billing info. Our full list of payment text message templates offer even more examples of how text-to-pay can speed up collections for your business.

How do you create a text message template?
A text template feature gives your business an organized way to create and save messages, so you can speed up your most frequent communications. A quality business texting platform, like Text Request, will offer templates as part of any pricing plan.
To create a new template using Text Request:
Go to Templates in the Settings section of your menu
Click + NEW TEMPLATE
Name your Template to easily identify it later
Type the message you want the Template to contain
Add merge fields to your template as desired
It’s that simple, and you can create as many templates as you need!
Merge fields, similar to custom fields, make it possible to automatically add a contact’s name to your templates whenever you go to send them. Merge Fields are based on the information you have saved in your contact details, like name or date of last service.
Whenever you are creating a template, select the merge fields icon [ ] to add any applicable merge fields to your template. If a contact’s details are missing information used by a merge field, you’ll have a chance to manually update that information before sending the template.
Note that the text template examples above are intended to be samples you use to create your own. We do not recommend directly copying and pasting them into Text Request's Templates feature, without first editing them and their [brackets] to fit your needs. These [brackets] will not automatically pull custom info and are only meant to be placeholder examples. You need to manually add merge fields to the template for the custom fields to properly work.
How can you set up text message templates on iPhone or Android?
Text Request’s mobile apps for iPhone and Android make it easy to create and send text templates on-the-go. These business texting apps keep your business and personal conversations separate, so no text conversations end up in the wrong place.
To create a text template on your iPhone or Android using the mobile app, follow the same steps as provided above. Our mobile app also gives you access to the same features you would have on your desktop.
