SMS Chat Mini Guide

SMS Chat is a widget that website visitors can use to message you directly.

Here's how it works:

  1. A website visitor opens the SMS Chat widget on your website

  2. They compose a message, including identifying information such as their name and phone number

  3. If you choose to connect multiple dashboards (numbers) to your widget, the visitor will select where they want the message to go

  4. The message will appear in the Text Request dashboard for you to respond to

  5. The rest of the conversation continues on the visitor’s phone

The Text Request widget is customizable in a variety of ways. We recently updated it to have the ability to route messages to multiple dashboards.

To enable Message Routing:

  1. Go to the Integrations menu

  2. Select "SMS Chat" in the top right

  3. Scroll down to "Message Routing" and turn it on

  4. Open the "Edit Field Name" section

  5. Enter the name for the dashboard that you want website visitors to see

  6. Check the box next to each dashboard you want to offer as an option

  7. Select "Save"

This is great for managing multiple locations from the same website, or for routing customers based on their needs (like sending someone to the sales department vs. the service department).

Libby Lossing runs 13 different Mathnasium tutoring centers with her family. She recently added SMS Chat to all their locations’ websites and is seeing more leads come in as a result.

Potential customers love instantly being able to start conversations with tutors using the widget. Reaching back out to these potential customers later is simple and effective for Libby, since almost 100% of her text messages are opened.
