SMS Compliance: Steps to Register Your 10DLC
Registering your 10DLC leads to more messages delivered faster, fewer messages being filtered, and—most importantly—no extra charges from carriers.
Here's how to make the registration process as painless as possible.
1. Registered Already?
Here's the quick way to check with Text Request.
10DLC is an abbreviation for a 10-digit long code phone number, like 423-218-0111. Your business landline or internet (VOIP) phone number is considered a 10DLC.
For peace of mind, we make it easy to check if your 10DLC is registered:
Go to Account in your Text Request navigation menu
Select 10DLC Management from the available options
See a thumbs up with the note, "You are registered"?
That means you're all set!
If you don't see a thumbs up, we have a few more simple steps for you to follow below.
2. Adding Your Info
Fill out two quick forms, and we’ll handle the rest!
You need the following information to complete our 10DLC registration forms.
Form one covers:
Your company’s legal name
Your company’s country of registration
The type of your organization (private, publicly traded, nonprofit)
Your company’s tax number/ID/EIN
Your business’s website
Once that's submitted and approved, then complete form two, which covers:
Descriptions of each campaign, or reason, you text for
Sample messages for each campaign you text for
Description of how contacts opt-in to receive your messages
After you complete both forms, we'll send them to carriers for you. So you can kick back and relax from there.
3. Common Hiccups
It takes time to get full approval from our connectivity partners.
Sometimes several weeks. You can send texts during this time, but you may experience slower delivery and higher filtering until you are fully registered.
There are a few common reasons a 10DLC registration attempt may not pass:
Vague Case Selection — "Use Case" is a fancy term for the reason you text customers. If you're not sure what your company's use case is, please reach out to our Support team.
Vague Opt-In Flow — An opt-in is a customer who agrees to be text messaged by your business. You need to describe how you get opt-ins with as much detail as possible for your 10DLC registration to be successful.
Missing Privacy Policies — Your registration will be denied if your privacy policy is not listed on your company website. Ideally, this should be in a visible, easily visited section of your website.
The sooner you register, the better! That way you can work with our Support team if any hiccups do occur.
