1. Send Reminders & Invoices

The #1 reason people miss a payment is they forgot.

69% of people say they want to receive texts related to payments. One thing you can do to help is text an invoice—just attach a PDF to your message in Text Request. Customers will see that text before an email or mailed invoice, anyway, and then they can pay through whatever methods you offer.

Another good step is to text a gentle reminder to pay, perhaps when the invoice is issued, 15 days after, or 30 days after. Send reminders sooner to speed up your collections period, like:

 “Hi [First Name], here’s your reminder that a payment of [Amount] is due. Pay online at [website.com/pay] or text us back with any questions.”

2. Collect SMS Transactions

Did you know you can receive payments through text? Using Payments, you can initiate payment requests, and customers can pay them by texting a confirmation code.  

It works like this:

  • You send a payment request

  • The customer enters their payment info via secure portal

  • That info is saved securely for future payments

  • Next time you request a payment, the customer just replies with a confirmation code

  • Transactions are processed in real-time into your bank account

3. Opportunities for Payments

It’s surprisingly simple—and secure.

A few great opportunities to collect payments through text include:

  • Collect payment before the customer comes into pick up their car, pet, package, etc. This speeds up check out and minimizes wait times.

  • Replacing direct mail invoices. Texting is about 3-5 business days faster.

  • Updating payment info when the current credit card on file expires.

You can also connect text messaging to where you already handle payments, like QuickBooks, Square, or Clio. If you choose to use our Payments feature, know that it is PCI DSS compliant, so your data and your customers’ data is secure.
