SMS Secuity: Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication
There's a lot of valuable data about your customers stored inside your Text Request account.
We work every day to keep it secure, and here's how you can do your part to protect your data, too, with multi-factor authentication (MFA).
1. What Is Multi-Factor Authentication?
MFA provides an extra layer of security.
Whenever someone tries to log in to your Text Request account, MFA randomly generates a code that gets texted to your cell phone. You then enter that code into Text Request, so our system can confirm it's actually you on the other side of the computer.
2. How Do You Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication?
Your Text Request admin can make MFA required or self-initiated.
If your account admin makes MFA required, you'll automatically be walked through how to set it up the next time you log in to Text Request. Your admin may choose to require MFA as a security best practice.
On the other hand, if your admin makes MFA self-initiated (or optional) you'll have the ability to turn it off and on as you please inside the Profile & Preference section of your account. We strongly recommend setting up MFA for an extra layer of security.
For more detailed instructions, visit our help doc here.
3. How Do You Get the Code?
You will receive a new code via text every time you log in.
So make sure that the phone number you choose to send the code to belongs to a device that you regularly keep nearby, that isn't shared with others.
