SMS for Events: Increase Turnout with Texts
Running an event or thinking of hosting one? Text messaging attracts larger audiences, so you can connect with more new prospects and see more returns. Here’s how.
1. Tap Loyal Customers
Start by reaching out to previous attendees.
They’ll be the most likely to jump on your event marketing. Plus you already have their phone numbers, so all it takes is popping your contact list into a Mass Text and hitting send.
Include a link in the text that attendees can use to register for the event, as well as a sense of urgency to get them to take the bite. Attendees will also want to know why the event matters to them specifically.
"Our annual Startup Day event is back! This year we have double the amount of local industry leaders scheduled to give educational talks to help grow your business: [link] Tickets are limited, so get them before they’re gone!”
2. Hype with a Keyword
Entice leads to opt in to receive event updates with keywords.
Keywords are a word, like "EVENT," that leads can text to receive an initial event registration link. You can then text the Keyword Group those leads are added to ongoing for event updates and promotions.
Advertise keywords in places like your venue’s page or social media to reach the widest audience. Giveaways or text-to-win campaigns can also be a way to get people interested.
3. Event Day Reminders
Share a final reminder with everything the attendees might need.
Not only will you prevent people from forgetting, you’ll also make a great impression when your reminder text includes things like:
A digital version of their ticket
A map of where to park
Things they can or can’t bring into the venue
A chart that shows where their seats are
A lot of people will be on the fence about going until last minute. The extra nudge will make a difference.
