Templates & Merge Fields: Capture Attention with a Personal Touch
Did you know you can add Merge Fields to your templates?
Messages that include a personal touch capture attention significantly more than non-personalized texts. Here's how to use them.
Templates & Merge Fields Mini Guide
Templates are the Text Request version of “stock” or “saved” messages. You can create a template once, save it, and then anyone on your team can reuse it as often as they like.
To create a new template:
Go to Templates in the Settings section of your Text Request menu
Click + NEW TEMPLATE
Type the name you want to use to identify the Template
Type the message you want the Template to contain
Merge Fields allow you to personalize your templates based on the information you have saved in your contact details, like name or date of last service.
Select the Merge Fields icon [ ] to add any applicable merge fields to your template. If a contact’s details are missing information used by a merge field, you’ll have a chance to manually edit in that information before sending the template.
Personalization is a great tool to capture someone's attention. Combine that with the speed of texting, and you’ll hook customers and leads as soon as you put the line in!

Templates & Merge Fields in Action
Whether they're caring for a snake, monkey, or guinea pig, Ooltewah Veterinary Hospital's goal is to cater to their pet owners’ individual needs. Pet owners don't have time to answer the phone anymore, so Ooltewah Veterinary Hospital texts them with Text Request instead.
Their team has created templates for appointment confirmations and have started customizing them with Merge Fields. Pet owners pay more attention to messages when they see their and their pet’s name.
